STOURBRIDGE FC are set to feature in the football season’s showpiece event at Wembley this weekend – the FA Cup final.

Unfortunately, the club aren’t in with a chance of silverware, but after the players’ heroics saw the Amblecote side reach the third round for the first time in its history this season, the Glassboys will be represented in a special ceremony prior to kick-off.

At the heart of the entertainment plans before the match between Arsenal and Chelsea gets underway on Saturday (May 27), there will be a celebration of clubs across the football pyramid who have contributed to a memorable season in the historic cup competition.

The singing of the traditional cup final hymn ‘Abide with Me’ will be led by representatives from eight clubs who provided standout moments in the competition.

Andy Bullingham, Stourbridge FC’s vice-chairman, will be sporting the Glassboys’ red and white at the national stadium as he joins those from Lincoln City, Guernsey FC, Millwall, Sutton United, Westfields and both finalists in singing the anthem – backed by a 25-member strong choir.

Andy Ambler, The FA’s head of pro game relations, said: “It has been a historic season for the Emirates FA Cup and we were keen to pay tribute to a number of clubs at all levels of the football pyramid who provided the watching world with memorable moments.

“The singing of ‘Abide with Me’ remains one of the iconic moments on cup final day and therefore it seemed highly appropriate to bring the clubs into the heart of this tradition.”

Stourbridge beat League One side Northampton Town on their way to reaching the third round before they were eventually knocked out of the cup by Wycombe Wanderers.
