BOSS Dave King has called on Tividale's fans to get behind his side when they kick-off their league campaign with a derby clash against Cradley.

Dale will face Town at home this Saturday (3pm kick-off) hoping to get off to the perfect start in the West Midlands Premier League following last season's relegation.

King said: "I think Cradley are one of the sides that will be up near the top of the division this season so it'll be a big test for us.

"It would be great if the fans can turn out in force again and come and have a look at the new players.

"It's a big derby game too and one to look forward to."

Tivi will be without the absent forward Nathan Jones but Chris Bladen is set to return.

Meanwhile, Tividale started their season with a 1-1 draw in the FA Cup extra preliminary round against Highgate United.

There were debuts for goalkeeper Ryan Cheshire, defenders Daniels Bryson and Daniel Wells, Liam Wilkinson, Curtis Cocking and Joe Lawley in midfield and Tyree Clarke in attack.

Dan Smith gave Dale the lead after 10 minutes at the Beeches before Highgate pulled level soon after.

"We did really well, took the lead and then had a few more really good chances to get another. We didn't do that and they got back level from the penalty spot," said King.

"From then on it was a pretty even game and a draw was probably the right result.

"We'll go there for the replay as underdogs but we won't be intimidated at all."

The replay is due to take place on Tuesday night meaning the scheduled league clash with Dudley Town will now be rearranged.
