STOURBRIDGE came away with a winning draw in their rain affected match with promotion favourites Lichfield in division three of the Birmingham and District league.

Stour bowlers Jade Richter and Zain Ul-Hassan put pressure on the home side by grabbing seven wickets between them.

Six wickets went down for 70 runs but‎ Lichfield recovered to 162 off 52 overs after lower order batsmen Jack Warren (31), Lewis Peat (17), and Adam Peat (25) prevented a low score collapse.

Richter ended with four wickets for 37 runs off 16 overs.

Losing an hour and three quarters for rain meant that Stour was left with 20 overs with a target of 162 for victory.

The winning draw target of 87 was the more realistic target but Stour made the worse possible start losing opener Alex Bingham in the first over caught off James Wilkinson for a duck.

Jujhar Johal, sent in to smash his way to the target, put away his first delivery for six but was bowled on 16 by Adam Peat.

Debutant Scott Ludlam (26) and skipper Josh Banks (18) not out saw Stour home to a winning draw with five wickets down.

Stour will host Stratford-Upon-Avon on Saturday (noon start).
