DUDLEY Sports picked up their first win of the season against Hereford Lads Club last Saturday.

Strikes from Mark Gore and Liam Timms helped them to a 2-1 victory at Hillcrest Avenue.

Gore netted on the hour mark before Hereford hit back five minutes later. But Timms fired home from the spot in injury time after Myles Nettleford was brought down in the box.

The success saw Sport bounce back from successive defeats at the start of the new season when a 4-0 loss at Ellesmere Rangers was followed by a 5-0 loss at home to Wolverhampton Sporting last Tuesday.

Manager Tony Gore was pleased with the way his team battled to pick up much-needed West Midlands Premier League points.

He said: "We played really well and deserved the win at the end.

"We left it late but it was pleasing to get the points and get up and running.

"Hereford are a decent side and have added good players since their promotion last year.

"It was an important win after the first two defeats and the big thing was that we didn't concede poor goals.

"We can now look to take some confidence and build on the win."

Sports are due to face Wellington Amateurs at home on Tuesday before welcoming Malvern Town this Saturday.

Centre back Jason Walters will be sidelined for a month with a knee injury but Richard Hanson should recover from a groin injury to feature against Malvern.
