ANDY Allardice has stepped down as manager of Dudley Town after three years in charge at the Dell Stadium.

The Robins lost 4-3 at fellow strugglers Stone Old Alleynians last Saturday as their winless run extended to 10 games.

A hat-trick from Che O'Connor wasn't enough for Town to take anything from the clash.

The result leaves them in the bottom three of the West Midlands Premier League and saw Allardice hand in his resignation after a meeting with club officials on Sunday evening.

Allardice felt his push to develop youth players wasn't getting the full support of others at the club.

He said: "It has been a difficult season so far but I felt the best way for the club to move forward was to continue to develop the club's young players.

"The powers that be wanted me to try to bring in more experienced players, so we couldn't agree on the best way forward.

"I have been proud of the youth system at the club and think it's blossoming because of the energy I've put into getting it up and running.

"I put a lot into it and just wish those young players the best of luck to fulfil their potential."

A statement from Dudley Town read: "Following a meeting with club directors and the first team manager, Dudley Town Football Club has accepted the resignation of first team manager Andy Allardice.

"It has been a difficult time for all concerned and performances and ultimately results have not gone the way the club anticipated.

"The club would like to thank Andy for his commitment and efforts both on and off the field over his three years in charge, and wish him all the best for the future.

"Jason Connon will also leave his role as first team coach with immediate effect. Again, the club directors and committee would like to extend their thanks to Jason for all his hard work and commitment."

Dudley are due to go to Wolverhampton Casuals this Saturday before welcoming league leaders Wolverhampton Sporting a week later.

The Robins are now inviting applicants for the vacant first team manager’s role. Any interested applicants should email their CV to the club secretary at davef.dtfc@blueyonder.co.uk.
