HALESOWEN Town chairman and prospective new owner Karen Brookes has outlined her dream of greater fan involvement at board level of the club.

A new era for the Yeltz moved a step closer last week after Brookes, daughter of club president Colin, revealed an offer to buy the club has been accepted after a mystery investor came forward to join her bid.

The Brookes family recently launched a fundraising drive to raise enough money to buy out the current owners, the Lynch family.

However, the second investor, who will not be named until the deal has gone through, has come forward to help put an offer together.

The duo have since had that accepted by the Lynch family for the sale of the club subject to legal approval.

Karen Brookes is now hopeful the future will see Yeltz fans have a big say in the way their club is run.

She explained: "This is a huge step in right direction for this club and hopefully everything can go through okay.

"My father, with his 24 year association with this club, keeps saying that Halesowen Town is coming home and that is how I see it as well.

"The club will be coming back to the fans and the people that love it.

"I've always engaged with the fans ever since I got involved and I see myself as a custodian for them.

"My idea is that over time fans will be involved more in the club and even own around 20 per cent in a share scheme. I'd need to talk with the other investor about all this but that would be great if we could eventually work towards that at some stage.

"I want to have an elected fan who can sit on the committee too.

"I already engage with fans and listen to what they want and have held three fans' forums but it would still be good if we could start a share scheme of some kind.

"The sale is now in the hands of the solicitors and I've instructed someone with commercial experience of buying and selling football clubs.

"It may take a little longer than February 28 but hopefully only by a few weeks, so fans shouldn't worry. But if we can get it over the line by the end of the month then we will."
