DUDLEY Kingswinford quickly returned to winning ways to put Hereford to the sword last Saturday.

DK recovered from the previous weekend's loss at Stoke - their first in 14 league games - to make sure their promotion push remains firmly on track.

The Heathbrook outfit welcomed back a host of key players as they secured a 33-5 success and remain top of Midlands One West.

Director of rugby Neil Shillingford said: "I was pleased with the win. It wasn't our most polished performances but credit to the lads for getting the job done and picking up that important bonus point again.

"It was always going to be tough at Hereford because they're a really gritty side that keep going.

"It was important we bounced back after the Stoke defeat and we did that.

"I thought the defence was good and the pack had a good game, especially the second row boys.

"It was also pleasing to get the half-back combination together of Jordan Brookes and Connah Jones. While it wasn't their best game it was good to have that organisation they bring."

DK don't have a game this weekend and return to action when Lutterworth visit on March 3.

However, they will be keeping a close eye on the action as second-placed Burton host third-placed Bromsgrove.

Shillingford added: "We'll now have two good weeks of training and focus towards a big end to the season.

"It's good for the club to be right up there in the mix and everything is going well.

"Rich Gresswell is working well with the Colts and we've put a lot of young players in the side too. The likes of Tom Walker, Callum Nicholls and Tom Evans have all done well.

"There is a lot of improvement moving forwards and that strength-in-depth is going to be very important to us."

Arran Hudson is likely to feature for the club's seconds this weekend ahead of a return the following Saturday.
