DUDLEY Sports have handed themselves a massive survival lifeline by picking up seven points from their last three games.

Sports moved up to fourth from bottom of the West Midlands Premier League thanks to wins over AFC Bridgnorth and Wellington Amateurs as well as a draw with Bilston Town last week.

They are now three points ahead of second-from-bottom Pegasus Juniors with four games left to play.

They overcame an early 2-0 deficit against Wellington Amateurs last Saturday thanks to goals in the final 20 minutes from Joe Billingham, Jack Bailey, Kaynell Smith and Rich Nicholson.

Sports boss Tony Gore was pleased with the way his players have stood up and been counted.

He said: "I'm delighted with our work this week.

"It's amazing the difference a week can make and we've given ourselves a big chance of staying up. I can't praise them enough this week.

"We did manage to strengthen a little before the deadline but everyone has played their part. There are people who are travelling but not playing but are knuckling down and getting on with it.

"We now have some tough games ahead so need to make sure we finish the job. As long as it's in our own hands come the game with Dudley Town then I'll take that.

"Everyone is confident now. We have had to play a lot of games but the legs don't feel as tired when you're winning games."

Dudley are set to host Wolverhampton Casuals on Tuesday before welcoming Cradley Town on Thursday and going to Shifnal Town this Saturday.

The campaign will end with a derby clash against Dudley Town on May 5.
