STOURBRIDGE boss Gary Hackett has set his sights on capturing a goalkeeper ahead of the new season.

A new number one is top of the manager's wishlist following the departure of Matt Gould at the end of last term.

Hackett has already moved quickly to snap up a host of last season's squad, including the recent capture of Aaron Forde for another year.

The midfielder committed to Stour for the 2018/19 campaign after chalking up 48 appearances and four goals after his arrival from Rushall Olympic last summer.

Hackett is now turning his attention to a new keeper. He said: "I've been really pleased with what we have managed to do already.

"We've got three or four new faces in as well as retaining the nucleus of our strongest performers from last season.

"A goalkeeper is definitely our priority now and we are talking to a few at the moment.

"I've spoken to Andy (Pountney, chairman) and we know it's an area we need to strengthen.

"We may have to be patient but it's a position that will be resolved.

"Overall, we're pleased at the moment and it's clear from the signings that we've made that we should be playing some exciting football next season.

"Our aim is to mount a promotion challenge and to make sure we hit the ground running in the new league. We managed to end last season on a high so we must look to carry that on."

Other players joining Forde to commit to the Glassboys already include Aris Christophorou, Paul McCone, Jack Duggan, Kaiman Anderson, Brad Birch, Louis Hall and Darryl Westlake.

Stour recently added wingers Greg Mills and Robert Thompson-Brown and left-sided defender Jordaan Brown.

Exciting prospects Jake Evans, James Timmins, Alex Cameron, Tom Edmonds-Hill and Peter Hawk will all be part of the first team squad after impressing at youth level.

Further talks are also due to continue with defender Stuart Pierpoint.
