CRADLEY Town have named Ashley Causer as the club's new manager.

Causer worked as an assistant at the Beeches under former boss Richard Forsyth and also took the reins for a few games last term following Andy Wyton's departure.

He now replaces former Shrewsbury man Ashley Vincent who left the role last month without taking charge of a single game for the Hammers.

Vincent had agreed to become the Cradley boss for the 2018/19 campaign before a u-turn saw him named as an assistant manager at Worcester City alongside John Snape.

That opened the door for Causer to take his first sole managerial role.

Causer is keen to get started and is already making planning for the new campaign.

He said: "It's my first manager's job at this level and I'm really looking forward to getting going.

"I've already got a good idea of the club from last season but we're going to be working hard to rebuild.

"We have managed to retain the key nucleus from last season but will be looking to give young players in the area a chance to shine with us.

"I know the players I want to bring in and we'll also be holding trials as soon as we're back for pre-season.

"Everyone will be starting with a clean slate.

"Organisation is key for my teams. Obviously scoring goals is key but I like to be organised and compact first and foremost and build from there."

The former Albion youth player was a left-back during his playing days when he featured for a host of clubs in the Alliance and Banks's League.

He turned to coaching youth teams after he retired and now works as an academy scout for Birmingham City.

Chairman Trevor Thomas added: "Ash Causer has been with us for around 18 months and already has links with the club.

"I've known him for a long time and he's always been involved in football and with profession clubs.

"It's his first manager's job but I have full confidence in his ability."
