HIMLEY should have overseas batsman Sheham Fernando available as they look to get back to winning ways against Halesowen this Saturday.

Himley have not won in five league games but did halt their losing run by battling to a losing draw at Leamington last weekend.

They will now be hoping Sri Lankan Fernando can give them the spark to reignite their stuttering campaign when third-placed Hales visit Stourbridge Road (noon start).

Against Leamington, Himley won the toss and chose to field.

Chris Boroughs struck early before the hosts recovered to end their innings on 256-8 thanks to half centuries from William Mashinge and Chris Calcott.

Himley's openers again failed to fire before Dan Durman's 83 kept them in the contest. They eventually finished on 160-9 take take away a losing draw but drop to third from bottom of Division One.

Wright said: "It was an important game not to lose but I can't really say we were ever on top.

"A few things went against us as it does when you're struggling but we did manage to battle hard in the end.

"Dan Durman made a really important contribution.

"Things have not panned out as we thought they would. We've had issues getting our overseas player and also had a few selection problems and we're in a position no one wants to be in.

"A couple of wins would change a lot though. We need to start getting the basics right and making the right decisions. If we do that then I'm confident our luck will change quickly."

Despite Fernando nearing his debut, Himley will be without key bowler Adam Finch on Saturday due his inclusion in the England under-19 test squad.
