TALENTED young athlete Ethan Court doesn't need to look far for his sporting inspiration.
The son after former Dudley Olympian Clova Court has quickly followed in his mum's footsteps and been selected for the English Schools Athletics Finals.
The 14-year-old, who attends Ormiston Community Academy in Tividale, will compete in the triple jump and sprint relay at Birmingham's Alexander Stadium on Friday, July 13 and Saturday, July 14.
He secured his place at the event after winning at the National Inter-Counties Championships last month.
Mum Clova competed in the heptathlon and 100 metres hurdles and represented Great Britain in the heptathlon at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona.
She also won a record five AAA Championship heptathlon titles as well as the the 1994 AAA Championship 100 metres hurdles title when defeating Sally Gunnell.
Ethan's dad Howard said: "It's an exciting time and a big opportunity for him.
"He does look at his mum's performances in Barcelona and she received a massive amount of publicity when she competed, even though she used to shy away from it and let her performances do the talking.
"He played football when he was younger but he's a star at athletics. The main thing is that he enjoys everything he does.
"The finals are the biggest stage for his age group and really where it all starts.
"He had a calf injury from January to March but hopefully he has a medal chance. If he does his stuff on the day and everything comes together then he is capable of winning."
