GREG Wright has demanded more from his players after Himley slumped to fourth from bottom with defeat at high-flying Oswestry.

They suffered a seven-wicket away loss last Saturday at the hands of Division One's second-placed side.

Bilaal Hussain's half century and 47 from fellow opener Oli Westbury pushed the visitors to 100 without loss at Morda Road after they'd lost the toss and been put into bat.

However, wickets soon began to fall and Himley were bowled out for just 189.

In reply, Stuart Wedge removed Warrick Fynn (39) and Josh Coleridge (0) but Roman Walker's unbeaten 85 guided the home side to another success.

Captain Wright missed the Oswestry clash but returns for this Saturday's vital home clash with second-from-bottom Brockhampton.

He said: "It was a disappointing result overall. To go from 100-0 to 189 all out and then lose by the amount we did shows that the wicket improved as the game went on but that we also didn't put in the performance we needed.

"I'm now looking for people to step up and show the performances they showed last year.

"They need to step it up and get back to the levels we know they're capable of.

"We were able to dig ourselves out of a hole last year but we've not been able to do that this season.

"There is lots of improvement needed."

Himley are just 21 points ahead of Brockhampton heading into this Saturday's contest at Stourbridge Road (noon start)

"The quality is there so I'm not worried out our league position, it is all about our performance levels," added Wright.

"It's difficult to know where we are one week to the next and what you are going to get from the team. We need to find that consistency again."
