TIVIDALE bowed out of the FA Cup at the first hurdle after hitting the woodwork six times at Sporting Khalsa.

Tivi lost 2-1 last Saturday despite Demetri Brown's strike for the visitors.

However, it was Dale's misses in front of goal that cost them a place in the next round.

Boss Dave King praised his side's showing despite the defeat.

He said: "I thought we played very well on the day and matched them in every department.

"We hit the woodwork six times and just couldn't do anymore. We were wasteful at times but it was also just one of those days when it wouldn't go it.

"The main thing I wanted was for us to play well to show how we have progressed as a side. I thought we did that.

"We had a good pre-season and have done well so far. I was disappointed with the result but very pleased with the performance.

Tivi will now turn their attention back to the West Midlands Premier League when they host early pacesetters Wolverhampton Casuals on Wednesday night (7.45pm kick-off).

"Wolverhampton Casuals will be right up there this season and have started really well," added King.

"It is going to be a very tough game for us and we'll have to play as well as we did against Khalsa to get something from the game."

They will be without absent forward Dan Smith for the game and Jake Brigdale is still a few weeks away.

One player that is available is key man Liam Wilkinson after he turned down a move to AFC Wulfrunians last week.

King said: "I think it could be a theme this season with teams coming in for our players.

"It doesn't surprise me that he turned them down because we have a close group of players here and I think they all want to stay and give it a really good go this season."

The Casuals clash will be followed by a trip to Bilston Town this Saturday.
