YOUNG Stourbridge cricketing starlet Thea Brookes is hoping to be a big hit when she makes her international debut.
The 16-year-old has been selected for the England Ladies under-17s tour of South Africa in March.
A considerable talent, Brookes has already hit the headlines after becoming the first female player at Stourbridge CC and helping to guide Worcestershire to the County Division Three championship.
She will jet off to South Africa after first attending a training session in Nottinghamshire.
Once there, the team face a schedule of five matches.
Dad Alan said: “It’s a great achievement for Thea and she is absolutely delighted.
“She has had a lifetime of cricket, I think she was born with a cricket ball in her cot. She is really looking forward to it.”
Thea has been sponsored for the trip by local businesses including Hayley windows, CSJ Steels and former Stourbridge skipper David Banks.
