Bladen quartet leaves Hammers happy

UANE Darby celebrated his first victory in charge of Cradley Town this week with an 8-2 demolition of bottom side Darlaston Town.

Recent capture Chris Bladen led the charge by netting four times, while Spencer Blackham struck twice with Marvin Whitter and Richard Thomas-Robinson also on target.

However, hard-to-please Darby said: “I was disappointed because I thought Darlaston were the better side in the first-half.

“In the second-half, we did much better and I’ll take an 8-2 win all day long.

“We created chances in last Saturday’s 1-0 defeat against Wellington, the difference was, we didn’t take them.”

Whipping boys Darlaston shocked the Hammers by taking an early lead, but in a dramatic start, Cradley were back in front by the 12th minute and went onto lead 3-1 by the break.

Darlaston were then undone as Cradley cracked home four goals in the space of nine minutes.

Darby continues to reshape his squad and has brought in Jemiah Richards from West Midland League rivals Willenhall Town, while Karl Gardner has returned following a brief spell at Dudley Town.

Cradley travel to Pegasus Juniors on Saturday.
