Robins hit six against Smethwick
5:01pm Thursday 29th August 2013 in Football
DUDLEY Town hit Smethwick Rangers for six — but Robins boss Andy Wyton remained far from happy.
He said: “We were shocking in the second-half. I think the players thought the game was already won and got themselves into a lull which they couldn’t get out of.”
The Robins had built a 5-1 lead by half time after Smethwick had goalkeeper Gurtej Bhullar sent off on the half hour mark for bringing down Ashley Greenaway.
Wyton said: “I thought the decision was really harsh. We were already 2-0 up through Ashley Greenaway and Steve Jones, while being awarded a penalty which Grant Joshua scored from.”
Two further goals from Dominic Watson had put Dudley out of sight by half time.
Wyton added: “I told the players, this was the type of game where teams like Lye Town go on and win by double figures. But we struggled to take advantage of 10 men.”
Substitute Dreniz Bala, who had been left out of the starting line-up, came on to make it six in the closing stages.
Wyton expects to strengthen his squad this week by signing Wolverhampton Casuals utility player Adam Callinswood.
