Tividale 3, Sporting Khalsa 2.

A LATE piledriver from substitute Sam Williams bagged Tividale the JW Hunt Cup in dramatic fashion to complete a league and cup double.

The team from The Beeches ended a season to remember by adding to their Midland Alliance crown with a final victory over Sporting Khalsa at Molineux Stadium tonight.

Tividale started the brighter of the two sides and pushed forwards as soon as the whistle went.

It didn't take long for them to draw first blood. Defender Mark Smith met a fourth minute corner to send a powerful header towards goal. His effort was cleared off the line but forward Karl Edwards was first to react to slot home the rebound.

The goal didn't halt Khalsa's ambition, however, and they continued to come forwards themselves.

Keeper Charlie Price was called into action on 11 minutes as he smothered the ball at the feet of Khalsa's Liam Hughes.

However, in a open first half, it was Tivi that carved out the better opportunities.

Khalsa keeper Mariusz Kiesel made a sting of fine saves to keep his side in the contest.

First he palmed away a long-range effort from adventurous left back Zak Foster just past the 20 minute mark before saving from a Paskin header following another dangerous Tivi corner.

Though Khalsa continued to attack, they were limited to half chances for the most part. That was until Tivi gifted them a way back into the contest. They gave away the ball in their own half and the lively Habbershaw punished them with a powerful finish on 34 minutes.

Tivi responded well after the equaliser but another good save from Kiesel ensured the sides went in level at the break.

The second half was almost a carbon copy of the first. Tivi once again were quickest out of the blocks and created three good chances.

Winwood, Bellis and Downing all had efforts saved when they only had the keeper to beat.

Then, just like in the first half, Tivi gifted Khalsa a goal. Paskin put in a clumsy challenge in the area and the ref had no hesitation to point to the spot.

Hughes punished Tivi for not taking their chances by slotting the ball home to hand his side the lead on the hour mark.

A scrappy period ensued as Tivi chased the game but found it increasingly hard to create any clear cut chances. Andrew Parsons and Sam Williams came on with just over 15 minutes to play as the Alliance champions looked for a way back into the contest.

Then, as the game entered the last 10 minutes, Tivi started to get more possession as Khalsa looked content to play on the break.

The ball was fed to Edwards in the box once more and he coolly rolled the ball into the bottom corner to make it 2-2.

With the momentum behind them Tivi continued to pile forwards deep into injury time. A spell of pressure saw the ball cleared only as far as the edge of the box.

Williams latched onto the loose ball and fired a stunning low drive through a crowd of players and into the bottom corner with only a minute of injury time left to go.

There was still time for a moment of madness as Khalsa's Jon Cordy saw red in the aftermath of the winning goal as Tivi players celebrated with their bench.

A flare was thrown onto the pitch by a section of Tividale's support and Cordy was given his marching orders for launching it back into the stand.

However, there was no time for a Khalsa reply on the pitch and Tivi ended a memorable season by claiming a second piece of silverware.
