Glassboys to travel away for cup contests

STOURBRIDGE must travel in the first qualifying rounds of both the FA Cup and FA Trophy.

In the FA Cup, the Glassboys will be away on Saturday, September 13 to either Bolehall Swifts, Dudley Town or Market Drayton Town.

Bolehall entertain Dudley in the Extra Preliminary Round on Saturday, August 16, with the winners of that tie then playing host to Market Drayton on Saturday, August 30.

Both Dudley, of the West Midlands League, and Tamworth-based Bolehall of the newly formed Midlands League Division One, play at step six of the pyramid, whilst Market Drayton are members of the Evo-Stik League Division One South having narrowly avoided relegation last season.

With a two-level advantage, the Shropshire outfit will be favourites to emerge to take on the Glassboys, despite having to travel.

Stourbridge have never played either Bolehall or Market Drayton in competitive fixtures, although they have visited both in the past for pre-season games.

The Glassboys have had many meetings with Dudley Town over the years but have not met competitively for some time.

Meanwhile, in the FA Trophy first qualifying round, Stourbridge have been drawn away to Carlton Town, who are members of the Evo-Stik League Division One South – one level below the Glassboys.

The Nottinghamshire club finished 10th in that division last season. Carlton have been given a bye through the preliminary round and the game is scheduled to be played on Saturday, November 1.

Stourbridge have notched up a hat-trick of away ties in the FA Youth Cup after being drawn to play away at Solihull Moors in the Preliminary Round. That tie is scheduled to be played during the week commencing Monday, September 8.

The club has announced reduced admission prices for their two upcoming home pre-season friendlies against Conference Premier neighbours Kidderminster Harriers on Tuesday, July 15 (7.45 pm) and Conference North outfit Solihull Moors on Tuesday, July 29 (also 7.45 pm).

Entrance prices will be £5 for adults, £3 Concessions and £2 for children aged 12-16, while children aged 11 and under will be able to gain free admission when accompanied by a paying adult/concession ticket.

Supporters will have the opportunity to purchase or renew their season tickets and memberships at these matches too.

Entrance arrangements to the War Memorial Athletic Ground remain the same as last season, with all paying spectators asked to enter through the turnstiles behind the Church End goal.

The Glassboys open their pre-season programme with a visit to Bewdley Town this Saturday (3pm).
