Home games will be key for Gornal, says Wyton.

GORNAL need to make Garden Walk a fortress if they are to taste success this season, says manager Andy Wyton.

The Peacocks now enter a period of six home games in the next seven matches.

"We really should be looking to take maximum points from the run of home games we have coming up," said Wyton.

"If we get the majority of points then we are going to be up there challenging. The period of home games will give us an opportunity to start the season really well.

"If you want to be in the mix at the top of the table you have to be strong at home. We are no different and we will be looking to go on a good run."

Gornal bagged their first win of the season by beating Ellesmere Rangers away last Tuesday.

Carl Martin hit the only goal of the game to give his side a 1-0 victory.

They were due to welcome Wolverhampton Casuals to Garden Walk last night before taking on Haughmond this Saturday.

The next visitors will then be rivals Dudley Town on Monday night.

Ahead of the spell of home fixtures, Gornal will have both Dreniz Bala and Craig Stevens back in the squad following suspension.

Athletic were knocked out of the FA Cup after losing 2-1 at home to Westfields last Saturday.

"We didn't deserve to win because we didn't perform how I know we can," added Wyton. "Once again, we didn't get going until the second half.

"It would have been nice to have a cup run but we now need to focus on the coming league games."
