DUDLEY Town chairman Steve Austin is hoping Saturday’s stunning 5-4 derby win over Black Country Rangers will kickstart his club’s season.
Daryl Hand scored a hat-trick and Steve Jones got two as Town surrendered the lead on no fewer than four occasions.
Hand though had the final say, scoring from the penalty spot after he had been fouled to earn a first win of the season from five attempts, and inflict a first defeat on the visitors.
“One win does not make a season, but I’m sure with what we have we are least a mid-table side.
“It was a brand new squad at the start of the season but on side we still had four or five players missing including not having a recognised striker on the pitch at the start.
“Hopefully this means we have turned the corner, and it’s onwards and upwards from here on in.”
“We did squander the lead four times but we kept battling and got our just rewards. It was a tremendous game. Black Country are always a threat with the quality they available up front”
Town entertain Smethwick Rangers tomorrow night then are at home to Shifnal Town on Saturday.
