CRADLEY Town boss Russell Dodd is searching for a striker to blast his side into title contention.

The Hammers have gone fifth in the West Midlands Premier after back-to-back wins over Heath Town Rangers and Bromyard Town.

Despite scoring seven goals in the process Dodd believes his side need to be more clinical and is keen on adding to his forward line.

He revealed Willenhall Town’s Chris Bladen, Heath Town’s Mark Habbershaw and Bilston Town’s Luke Parker are among a number of targets.

He said: “I’ve been pleased with the wins, they are just what we wanted to move up in the standings.

“But I still think we are missing too many chances.

“When you look at the amount of goals Tividale are scoring, we could be doing the same if we were a bit sharper.

“I’m looking for a big striker, suited to the way we play who will give us that extra edge.”

Dodd believes Sean Williams will stay at the Hammers, after Heath Town cheekily made a seven day approach after they were beaten 4-2 at Beeches Avenue.

However, Jake Brooks has left the club along with Dwayne Griffiths and Martin Hill.

Dodd said: “We found Heath Town’s approach for Sean quite amusing to be honest and I’m pretty sure he will stay.

“He has been very good for us and seems to have re-discovered his shooting boots in the last few games.”

Tuesday’s 3-1 win at Bromyard was achieved despite the early loss through injury of assistant boss and defender Stuart Hamilton.

Cradley also trailed early on and Dodd is particularly pleased with the attitude his young side has shown.

He added: “We probably had four or five lads aged 18 or 19 in the side last night.

“They worked their socks off after going behind and were tough as well, it was really pleasing to see.”
