TONY Gore says Dudley Sports go into Saturday’s FA Cup clash against Heath Hayes with nothing to lose.

While the competition couldn’t be further from the minds of professional clubs, the long road to next May’s Wembley final begins with the extra-premliminary round where Sports host the Midland Alliance outfit.

It is the first time Sports have featured in the cup for three years and joint-boss Gore claims there is all to play for.

He said: “It’s a massive game, a one off game where anything can happen. There is absolutely no pressure on us, nobody expects us to win and we will be out to cause a shock.

“If you look at their pre-season results there is no doubt they are a good side but we will give it our best shot.”

Gore conceded his side would get a “trouncing” if they replicated the form which saw them crash to a 3-0 home defeat to Bewdley Town in their West Midlands Premier Division home opener.

Strike duo Craig Tibbetts and Matt Hearsey both left the field at half-time injured with the former missing Saturday’s clash as he goes on holiday.

Sports managed to bounce back on Tuesday with a 3-2 win over Bartley Green.

Gore added: “If Heath Hayes sent anybody to watch on Saturday then they will be rubbing their hands with glee.

“We got what we deserved out of the game — nothing. “We just didn’t put enough into the performance. “Had Bewdley won by more than three goals we couldn’t have complained.”

Dudley Town have a trip to Shawbury to negotiate tonight before their opening cup tie against Midland Combination Premier Division outfit Southam United.

Andy Burgess’ men will take plenty of heart after getting their West MIdlands Premier Division campaign off to a flying start thanks to a 6-3 demolition of Wellington.
