RYAN Rowe ran down the clock on his loan spell with Stourbridge by coming off the bench to score the equalising goal in their 1-1 draw at Truro City.

Rowe returned to Kidderminster Harriers’ ranks this week after being recalled by new boss Andy Thorn.

Stourbridge boss Gary Hackett revealed: “We had an inkling this would be the case and Harriers would take up their option to recall Ryan, but he’s left us on a positive note.

“When he first arrived, he had his head in the clouds a bit and was at a really low point, but I think we’ve been really good for him and I hope he goes back to Harriers, does really well and proves a point.

“He hasn’t found it easy at times, but he’s come to a place where he’s loved. Now it’s up to Ryan to make an impact.

“When he came on in the second half, I thought it was the best 45 minutes he’s ever played for us – as we were really up against it at the time”.

The Glassboys had travelled down to Truro courtesy of an overnight stay in Plymouth.

Hackett confirmed: “We prepared as properly as we could and then it all got blown up in our face when we went in at half time 1-0 down and reduced to 10 men”.

Manager Hackett admitted to trying a different formation and confirmed: “It didn’t really work, probably because we weren’t applying ourselves properly”.

Stourbridge had fallen behind to a Ben Watson goal on 35 minutes.

Four minutes later, striker Luke Benbow was sent off for a reckless lunge.

Rowe replaced the out of sorts Nathan Bennett and levelled on 64 minutes.

And the Glassboys could have grabbed maximum points when the impressive Rowe put Ben Billingham in the clear, but his shot was blocked by Truro goalkeeper Grant Fisher.

The Glassboys entertain promotion rivals Bideford on Saturday with manager Hackett looking to bring in a goalkeeper to cover for the suspended Dean Coleman.

Hackett also waits on central defender Nathan Bennett, who has been suffering with a virus.
