STOURBRIDGE boss Gary Hackett has admitted his side's home form has not been good enough this season.

A bad week for The Glassboys has seen them lose successive games at the Memorial Ground, their seventh home defeat of the season.

A 1-0 loss against St Albans last Saturday was followed by a 2-1 defeat against Hungerford on Tuesday night. The results are a big set-back for Stourbridge who are in the hunt for a Southern League Premier play-off place.

"There can be no excuses," said Hackett. "It has been a bad week for us. We didn't turn up at all on Saturday and then failed to get anything out of Hungerford as well.

"In the last four or five years our home form has been very good, but that has not been the case this season. We simply have not been good enough and it is something we need to put right. We know what is expected of us."

On Tuesday night, two second half goals from Hungerford condemned The Glassboys to a second defeat in just four days.

Stourbridge has led at half time after Will Richards headed in a Sean Geddes corner just before the break.

Hungerford grabbed the opportunity to turn the game round when a foul by goalscorer Richards left Draycott with the chance to level from the penalty spot on 58 minutes. Ten minutes later Luke Hopper fired low into the corner to give the Centurions the win.

Hackett has pointed to a number of absences that have disrupted his side in recent weeks.

He has been without first choice full backs Kyle Haynes and Netan Sansara through injury and midfielder Louis Harris due to suspension. Another big loss has been defender Nathan Bennett, who has been struck down by a virus.

"The back four hasn't really been settled all season. The biggest loss has been Nathan Bennett. I think, pound-for-pound, he has probably been the best defender in this league in recent seasons.

"I also think people have underestimated how much of a loss Louis Harris has been for us in midfield," he said.

However, Hackett does not think that should be used as an excuse and has backed his players to bounce back sooner rather than later and to finish the campaign in a strong manner.

He said: "We now have 10 cup finals and need to have a siege mentality. We have been written off before and come back well. I'm very confident we will do the same again and finish the season very well."

The Glassboys will now travel to Corby this Saturday as they look to get their faltering season back on track.
