RESURGENT Stourbridge will be looking to win their third game in succession when they take on promotion rivals Cambridge City on Saturday.

The vital fixture at the Memorial Ground (3pm ko) could see the Glassboys re-enforce their Southern Premier League play-off hopes.

Gary Hackett's men put a recent run of poor form well and truly behind them this week by beating Corby away last Saturday and taking all three points when welcoming Biggleswade Town to Amblecote on Tuesday night.

Hackett, who had publicly backed his team to put home defeats against St Albans and Hungerford behind them, got the response he was looking for from the players.

Sean Geddes slotted in a penalty with just ten minutes left on the clock to give the Glassboys a much-needed 4-3 away win against Corby. Another from Geddes and other goals from Chris Knight and Kayleden Brown helped Stourbridge recover from a 3-1 deficit.

They then backed that up by seeing off Biggleswade 2-1 at the Memorial Ground. An own goal and another Brown strike on 68 minutes continued the revival.

Hackett said: ""It was important we bounced back and I can only praise the players for the determination they have shown. We have won both games despite being behind at the hour mark.

"The players have taken some criticism recently, some of it merited, and have come back strong. The fans started to really get behind us against Biggleswade because they could see that the effort was there.

"Saturday is an important game for us because it gives us that chance to close the game to Cambridge."

Stourbridge could be without key defender Will Richards for the rest of the season after he injured his ankle on Tuesday night.

Hackett said he could turn to the versatility of Kristian Ramsey-Dickson to fill the gap.
