THE Glassboys are gunning for further FA Cup glory this weekend when they host Manchester side Curzon Ashton in the third qualifying round.

Having reached the second round proper two years ago when putting Plymouth Argyle out in the process, the Glassboys are eager for a further taste of success.

Stourbridge stepped up a gear this week with a couple of classy victories to lift them up to fifth spot in the Southern Premier League.

They became the first side to lower Poole Town’s colours with a superb 5-2 success, which saw spot-kick king Sean Geddes convert two more penalties, taking his remarkble tally to 11 this season.

It leaves him joint-top scorer in the Southern League with Poole’s Richard Gillespie, with all of the Geddes goals coming from the spot.

The Glassboys then came from behind to beat Corby Town 3-1 after overturning a 1-0 half time deficit.

Jordan Fitzpatrick continued his rich vein of form in front of goal with the equaliser before Will Richards put them ahead.

Corby added to their downfall with an own goal after Brad-Lee Gascoigne turned Luke Benbow’s shot into the net.

Manager Gary Hackett pulled off a coup this week when bringing former skipper Paul McCone back to the club after the defender left in the summer to join Conference North side Leamington.

McCone was drafted straight into the starting line-up against Poole, but is forced to miss Saturday’s cup-tie having already featured in the competition for Leamington.

Hackett said: “Paul is one of those players who can make a big difference to the side because he has a winning mentality.”

The Glassboys boss might have to shuffle his defence further and full back Paul Lloyd missed the Corby match with a knee problem and is only rated as 50-50.

Hackett will also give late fitness tests to Roly Agbor and Andre Francis.

Stourbridge left nothing to chance and had Curzon Ashton watched in their FA Trophy game at Ossett Albion last Saturday.

Sadly, the spy in the camp headed for Ossett Town instead and spent the first 10 minutes watching their game with Darlington 1883.
