Heathens begin campaign against Coventry

DUDLEY Heathens will launch their 2013 season against National League newcomers Coventry.

The sides will meet at Brandon on Friday, March 22 with the return at Monmore Green on Tuesday, April 9 – the first home meeting of the season for the former Cradley club.

The Challenge meetings will bring memories flooding back of the great clashes between Cradley and Coventry in the Dudley Wood days and are expected to attract bumper crowds.

Heathens chairman Nigel Pearson said: “What a way to start the season! We’re delighted to provide the opposition for the exciting launch of National League racing at Coventry and we wish Mick Horton and his management team every success with the project.

“I’m sure there will be plenty of Heathens fans heading to Brandon on March 22 because that will be the first time this new-look Heathens team will be racing together.

“And I have no doubt fans will be desperate to see Heathens v Coventry in our first home meeting on April 9. There will be some terrific racing in both meetings and it’s a fabulous way for the curtain to go up on 2013.”

The full Heathens team will be on hand to meet fans at the season launch party on Friday, March 1.

The event, which includes a disco, raffle and auction, takes place at Cradley Heath Liberal Club and is expected to be a complete sellout. Tickets will go on sale next week.
