HALESOWEN Swimming Club are still in the hunt for promotion back to Division One of the Nuneaton Junior League after a fourth place finish in round two at their home pool.
Having kicked off the season by winning the opening round, Hales had plenty of confidence going into round two at Halesowen Leisure Centre.
The standard was noticeably higher than round one and despite a vocal home support Halesowen finished a tough evening’s swimming in fourth place.
In the face of stiff competition, race wins were at a premium - 10-year-old Grace Guy provided the only individual race wins securing victory in the two length backstroke and one length butterfly.
The 12-year-old boys' relay team of William Walker, Jacob Smith, Jack Everton, Anthony Demitry and Jacob Fellows were dominant, comfortably winning both the freestyle and medley relays.
Despite the slightly disappointing finish there were some excellent performances, including an encouraging debut from nine-year-old Philippa Ranasinghe. With one round to go Halesowen are still very much in the hunt for promotion back to Division One.
