Going for gold: Paul Barnbrook in action at the World Masters Championships.

STOURBRIDGE strongman, Paul Barnbrook, is celebrating after returning from the USA as a world champion.

Barnbrook claimed a 100kg deadlift gold medal in the World Masters Powerlifting Championships held in Palm Springs, California.

The PowerPress Gym member battled on with a knee injury to win the event after lifting an incredible 290kg.

The Cleveland Street based gym owner, Phil guise was also competing but he narrowly missed out on a bronze medal in the 82.5kg class.
