Wayne Rooney paid his respects to his late sister-in-law as he scored the only goal to earn Manchester United an FA Cup fourth round tie with Fulham as they beat West Ham 1-0 at Old Trafford.

After taking the congratulations of his team-mates when he turned home Javier Hernandez's square ball after only nine minutes, the England forward kissed his hands, looked to the skies and raised his arms as he walked back towards the halfway line.

Rooney also missed a second-half penalty - the fifth time United have failed from the spot this season - as United survived a spirited second-half rally from the Hammers.
