DK out to silence Tigers
11:00am Thursday 17th January 2013 in Dudley Kingswinford RFC
Josh Buggea goes in for the winning try against Darlington Mowden Park
JON Higgins says there is no reason Dudley Kingswinford can’t beat Sheffield Tigers this Saturday.
The Heathbrook side are on a high after a superb 18-15 win over Darlington Mowden Park, a result which should go a long way toward securing their survival in National Two North.
Delighted Higgins has urged his players to maintain their form for the trip to Yorkshire and grab a first away win of the season.
He said: “If we play like we did on Saturday, we will win the game. But we need to back up that performance with another one.
“The question as always is can we do it for 80 minutes? We managed it on Saturday and the difference was there for everyone to see.
“We ran Sheffield close at home and I’m desperate to get a win away.”
On-loan Worcester Academy number eight Josh Buggea was the hero with a last-gasp try to clinch victory against Darlington, though the hosts were well-deserving of the win.
The result opened up a 15-point gap between DK and the bottom three and ended a run of three straight defeats.
Higgins believes beating one of the division’s big guns will give his side a much-needed confidence boost.
He said: “It was a huge result for us.
“I don’t think many people expected us to win, it was really pleasing and a big effort from everyone.
“We know if we play like that we can beat most teams in this league.
“I’m not sure what it was but there was definitely something different in the way we approached the game.”
