We can only blame ourselves - DK coach
11:30am Thursday 4th April 2013 in Dudley Kingswinford RFC
JON Higgins admits Dudley Kingswinford have only themselves to blame as they struggle to shake off relegation danger.
The Heathbrook side still can’t relax after continuting their dreadful away form with a 34-27 defeat at Stockport last weekend.
DK ran in four tries to pick up what could be two crucial bonus points. They now have a ten point cushion over the drop zone and the odds on survival remain heavily in their favour.
But joint-head coach Higgins says they still can’t relax and admits their chronic failures on the road has heaped pressure on their home form.
He said: “We really looked at last weekend as a game we could win but the fact we lost means we can’t afford to relax.
“There are still a few games to play and it’s furstrating we have not been able to secure our safety yet.
“We have had some winnable games, it’s not like we have had to face Stourbridge away or anything like that.
“These are teams we have beaten before but for whatever reason we can’t repeat our home form on the road.
“We seem to play up or down to the level of the opposition. It’s massively frustrating.
“When you look at how we played against Hull Ionians a few weeks ago to back it up with a performance like Saturday just isn’t good enough.”
Back row Josh Buggea could return from injury in time for this Saturday’s home derby clash with Bromsgrove.
Higgins admitted DK were out to exact revenge on their rivals, who thumped them 35-3 at Finstall Park back in December.
He said: “They beat us convincingly at their place but with us being at home its a different kettle of fish.
“It’s the kind of game we can win but there is no doubt we have put pressure on ourselves.”
