Stour find true form
Stourbridge Chess Club are now starting to show their true form after a mediocre start to the season.
The first team are now through to the final of the Terrill Trophy organised by the Birmingham League.
They will face Olton today (Thursday) at the neutral Warley Quinbourne venue.
Stourbridge will be at full strength for the clash against their higher rated opponents Olton.
Father and son Nic and Jeremy Fallowfield are both available.
The second team captained by club secretary Dave Scriven have finished second in Division Three of the Birmingham League to earn promotion into Division Two.
They finished the campaign with an excellent record of eight wins, two losses and two draws.
In the Welsh Championships held over Easter, Julie Wilson won a grading prize with four and a half points out of a possible seven. This performance should be good enough to ensure her place in the Welsh ladies team for the chess Olympiad to be held in Dresden in November.
