Rutter aims for flying start
Veteran speedster Michael Rutter is aiming to make a flying, if belated start, to the new British Superbikes Championship at Thruxton on Sunday.
The Kingswinford speed king is straining at the leash to get racing on his new North West 200 JHP Ducati after the first round at Brands Hatch was snowed off.
Rutter has been trailed around by the bad weather ever since he got his hands on the new bike but is optimistic that he is standing on the verge of an exciting season.
He said: "The only consolation is that everyone is in the same boat because of the bad weather.
"I can't wait to get started.
"This promises to be a really exciting season and I am optimistic that we will be right up the Championship table.
"Hopefully, we can make a good start at Thruxton after Brands Hatch was snowed off.
"At least I have had some extra time to get used to everything before we start racing for real.
"Everything on the bike is new compared to other machines.
"For instance, it has a different piston.
"There is nothing manual with them so at the present time it is trial and error."
