Stourbridge FC boss Gary Hackett believes the spot on attitude of his squad will set them in good stead as they push for a play-off-spot in BGB Midlands Division One.

The Glassboys currently sit one place and two points outside the play-off positions but Hackett believes there are enough positives to suggest his side can have a real crack at promotion.

The War Memorial outfit cruised to a 3-0 win away at Malvern Town on Saturday, before picking up a creditable 0-0 draw at league leaders Evesham United on Tuesday evening.

Hackett has been encouraged with his side's form of late after suffering an horrendous January.

He said: "We are doing well at the minute and so much so that I was a bit disappointed to come away from the league leaders with only a point.

"I really believe with a little bit more quality we could have come away with all the three points and I think that just shows what we are capable of.

"The attitude and application of the players has been exceptional of late and with 11 games to go and a play-off spot in sight we will need to keep this up if we want to achieve our goals.

"We went close to getting in the play-offs last season but I really think we are better equipped this time around to give it a real go."

Home form will be key to whether the Glassboys season goes into over-time, with seven of their remaining 11 fixtures set to take place at Amblecote.

The first of those was against Woodford United on Saturday (3pm kick-off) before welcoming fellow promotion rival and FA Cup heroes Chasetown next Tuesday (7.45pm kick-off).

Hackett is looking forward to putting right there sketchy home form.

He said: "Our home record has been a little disappointing this season.

"With seven of our remaining 11 games at home we will be looking to nail our home form for the rest of the campaign."

Hackett will be able to welcome back Nathan Bennett for Saturday but will be without the services of striker Rob Taylor.

Taylor has filled the void left by the injury of Mark Bellingham but he picked up a knee injury in the draw with Evesham and it's unclear when he will return to action.
