LEAMINGTON 0, STOURBRIDGE 2.
Stourbridge's marvellous run of results continued with a deserved win at league leaders Leamington for a seventh straight victory in all competitions. The Glassboys had the better of the first-half exchanges kicking down the slope.
Damian Whitcombe went close for the visitors with a fifth-minute free-kick, which drew a sharp save from home keeper Richard Morris.
The Brakes however, should have taken the lead on 13 minutes when a free-kick from Aaron Parkinson flew through to an unmarked Jamie Towers at the far post, but he stabbed his shot wide.
Stourbridge responded and in the 20th minute Ryan Mahon won possession before playing in Mark Bellingham who advanced towards the penalty box from the left channel before drilling a left-foot shot into the near side-netting.
The Glassboys grabbed the lead in the 23rd minute. Whitcombe flighted a straight free-kick into the Leamington box and Nathan Bennett rose to glance a back header past Morris and underneath the crossbar to put the visitors in front.
Leamington made a better start to the second period, but the visitors defended well before going on to extend their advantage on 58 minutes. Kyle Hadley drove in a low centre from the right and Leon Broadhurst (pictured inset) tucked the ball home from close range in the middle. Four minutes later, James Dyson supplied a good ball into the right channel area for Bellingham who fired a shot over the bar. The home side looked to get back into the match, but Stuart Herlihy headed wide from a left-wing Jamie Towers corner on 67 minutes and five minutes later, a driven low free-kick from Towers was safely held by Stour custodian Lewis Solly.
The Stourbridge shot-stopper was soon back in action when he made a good save from a Stuart Herlihy header following a deep corner from the left by Towers to ensure there was no dramatic finale.
