STOURBRIDGE RFC U16s are celebrating after coming back from the Welsh Festival of Rugby as champions.

The exciting event was held at Colwyn Bay Rugby Club on Saturday and Sunday and despite some atrocius weather the Stour starlets battled on top cliam the trophy.

Their first opponents were Barnhall from Ireland who were disposed of 5-0 with a first-half try from Liam Marshall.

Next up were Daventry where Stourbridge were able to show there skills with a five-try win. Sam Baker opened the first half scoring with Matthew Willettes making it a 10-0 half-time lead.

Will Jenkins increased the lead early in the second half before the moment of the tour when prop forward John Griffiths broke through before kicking ahead for Kyle Lockley to pick up and score before Jake Best completed the scoring Day two started with the pitches in an even worse condition and a match against home side Colwyn Bay which resulted in a score line of 0-0. With seven minutes each way extra-time the result remained scoreless. This set up a final against St Sinnans from Ireland and with first-half tries from Matt Willettes and Matt Ward Stourbridge set up a ten point half-time lead. In the second-half Matt Ward found a piece of better ground on the wing and completed a try in the corner to give Stourbridge the win by 15-0.

Next Sunday the U16s have a North Midlands Cup semi-final tie away against Birmingham Solihull.
