Club gets helping hand

A WELL-established company and a local school have joined forces to help ensure disabled spectators will have the best possible view at Stourbridge Cricket Club for 2008 season.

Timber Merchants, Simeon Bateman, who have been trading for more than 220 years, and Redhill School have worked together to make a decorative picket fence to surround the soon to be created disabled viewing area at The Memorial Ground ahead of the new campaign.

The project is all part of the clubs' Natwest CricketForce event, which will take place on the weekend of April 5 and 6.

Stourbridge Cricket Club Chairman Harilal Patel said: "Simeon Bateman have kindly agreed to donate the wood that we need to make the fence and Redhill Primary School pupils led by teacher Phil Hagley will make the fence.

"We are very grateful to both for supporting us in the creation of our new viewing area.

"It is doubtful that we would have been able to complete this work without their support."
