“SUBLIME” second row Will Spencer should be given a chance by England, according to Worcester Warriors chief Gary Gold.

The powerful lock played a starring role in Warriors’ 30-15 victory over Northampton Saints in the Aviva Premiership at Sixways last Saturday.

And Gold believes the 25-year-old has the credentials to star on the international stage if given the opportunity by head coach Eddie Jones.

Spencer was named in England’s squad to face the Barbarians at Twickenham in May, but has yet to secure a cap and was not selected for the autumn internationals.

“Will was immense with the way he ran lines off Francois (Hougaard),” Gold said.

“He must have carried the ball about 10 to 15 times.

“When you talk about someone not being in the England mix there is a really strong opportunity for (Jones) to be looking at a guy like that.

“He is absolutely sublime.”
