FLY-HALF Dorian Jones hopes to impress director of rugby Alan Solomons enough to earn a permanent move to Worcester Warriors.

After a frustrating time at Dragons this season Jones said he jumped at the chance to join Warriors on loan until the end of the campaign.

And the Welshman admitted he felt “right at home” at Worcester where his father Kingsley Jones plied his trade 16 years ago.

The 26-year-old revealed he had an option for another year at Dragons but having made just six first-team appearances this term said he was keen to seize the opportunity of playing in the Aviva Premiership.

“I have been at Dragons and haven’t really had much game-time this year,” Jones said.

“They were always keen to move me on if possible and I was really thankful that the opportunity did come to join such a great team like Worcester.

“To play in the Premiership is always something I have wanted to do so hopefully I will get my chances while I am here.

“The facilities are great here and the players and staff have given me such a warm welcome. I feel right at home.”

Jones, who has scored 208 points in 66 games for Dragons, has hit the ground running since his arrival at Sixways two weeks ago.

The stand-off starred in Worcester Cavaliers’ 52-21 win over Sale Jets before making his Premiership debut against Newcastle Falcons on Saturday.

After replacing Jamie Shillcock on 58 minutes, Jones landed three conversions to steer Warriors to a valuable 27-13 victory.

His performances have earned praise from Solomons who may hand him the number 10 shirt when second-from-bottom Worcester visit Wasps on Saturday (3pm).

“You always want to try your best in whatever situation you are in but there is that bit of added incentive as I am here for six weeks,” Jones said.

“I really want to try to make a good impression, do well for Worcester and make sure they move up in the league.

“I am always looking forward. I have got another year at the Dragons if I want it but the aim will be to impress here as much as possible.

“I am just focusing on my performance and everything will take care of itself.”

Warriors have signed Jono Lance on a two-year deal ahead of next season but with Sam Olver joining Ealing Trailfinders this summer Solomons will be looking to bolster the fly-half department.

Solomons has expressed his interest in Scotland international Duncan Weir, who is set to leave Edinburgh, but Jones could force his way into the reckoning.

Asked whether he would like to stay at Warriors beyond this season, Jones replied: “Definitely.

“I am really enjoying it and week by week I am enjoying it even more so let’s see what happens.

“As long as I can perform in training and in games who knows what’s going to happen.

“I’m just taking it week by week.

“If I can impress enough then hopefully something may come of it.

“But I just need to keep my head down.”
