JOSH Adams is adamant there is more to come from him as he bids to better his impressive try-scoring haul next season.

The Worcester Warriors star crossed the whitewash 17 times in 25 appearances across all competitions in the 2017-18 campaign.

Thirteen of those came in the Aviva Premiership as the 23-year-old finished joint-top try scorer along with Newcastle Falcons wing Vereniki Goneva.

Adams was delighted to share the accolade with the 34-year-old but was now keen to build on what he described as a “season to remember”.

“Try-scoring as a winger is a bit like goal-scoring in football as a striker,” Adams said.

“Some players look to us to get the tries in the same way footballers look to the strikers to get goals.

“It’s important to me and I do get a kick out of scoring tries.

“It’s something I practise in training as I work on my finishing and all the aspects that go along with that like speed and agility.”

Adams who made his Wales debut in this year’s Six Nations has been one of the shining lights for Warriors in a disappointing campaign that saw them finish in 11th position.

“It’s been quite an up-and-down season from a club point of view but personally it has been a season to remember,” Adams continued.

“I got my first cap for Wales which was a special for me and that came off the back of some really good team performances towards the back-end of Christmas and the start of January with Worcester.

“Obviously I’m delighted to be joint-top try scorer especially with the someone of the quality of Niki Goneva – he’s been doing it in the Premiership for a number of years.

“If I can keep scoring this many tries until the same age as Niki (34), I won’t be doing too badly.

“Hopefully this is something for me to build on and a target to try and better next year.”

Adams’ superb form saw him nominated for the Land Rover Discovery of the Season award, which was won by Exeter Chiefs flanker Sam Simmonds. He was also named in the BT Sport Dream Team.

But the Swansea-born ace insisted he was not the finished article as he looks to hit the training paddock this summer.

“There are definitely aspects of my game, other than try-scoring, that I’ve worked hard on and seen improvement in,” Adams added.

“My kicking has come on well, positioning in the backfield and just being involved in the international camps has really helped improve my defence.

“Defending at international level is a step up from the Premiership but I’ve definitely come back feeling like a bit more of a complete player.

“By no means is my game complete though – I’ve got plenty still to work on and it’s something I’m striving towards every day in training.”
