YOUNG Worcestershire batsman Josh Dell and paceman Pat Brown will be part of the Worcestershire CCC squad for the pre-season camp in Abu Dhabi.

Director of cricket Steve Rhodes confirmed that Dell and Brown have been given their opportunity for the 11 day trip.

They will replace injured duo Tom Kohler-Cadmore (shoulder) and George Scrimshaw (back).

Nineteen-year-old Dell made his England Under-19 debut last summer against Sri Lanka Under-19s and was part of the England Young Lions squad for their winter training camp in the UAE.

The Tenbury Wells born player is a member of the Worcestershire Academy 2016-2017 intake.

Peterborough-born Brown joined the Academy mid-way through 2014-2015 and was also part of the 2015-2016 intake.

The 18-year-old is now on a cricket scholarship with the University of Worcester - a path previously trodden by the likes of Daryl Mitchell and George Rhodes of the current first team squad as well as Graeme Whiles.

Rhodes said: "The only ones not going to Abu Dhabi because of injury are Tom Kohler-Cadmore and George Scrimshaw.

"They are replaced by Pat Brown and Josh Dell.

"Both of them have been with us all winter and it will be a nice opportunity for them to taste a little bit more of what professional life is all about at the pre-season camp."

Academy coach Elliot Wilson said: "Although Josh was disappointed not to be picked for the Under-19 tour of India, he has benefited from working for two or three months with all the coaches (at Malvern) this winter.

"Pat has worked really hard this winter, combining being a full-time student by putting in a lot of full-time training with the County.

"It is fantastic for them, a great opportunity and reward for these guys, to now be going to Abu Dhabi."
