WORCESTERSHIRE wrapped up an-innings-and-42-run victory on the final day of their friendly against Leeds-Bradford MCCU at Weetwood.

Despite a defiant 75 from Craig Wallace, Worcestershire bundled out the students for 249 in their second innings with Peter McDermott not able to bat.

Brett D’Oliveira (3-70) and Charlie Morris (3-36) both picked up three wickets for Worcestershire, while skipper Joe Leach, Jack Shantry and Daryl Mitchell claimed one apiece.

Leeds-Bradford had started the final day on 132-4 - still 159 in arrears of Worcestershire’s first innings total of 453-4 declared After being dismissed in their first innings for 162, the students put up a much better showing the second time around with Wallace providing the backbone.

Wicketkeeper Jack Potticary was the first wicket to fall on the final day, caught by Josh Tongue off D’Oliveira with the total at 190.

Morris was next to break through, removing Max Maciver for three and he struck again soon afterwards, dismissing Daniel Houghton for eight, to leave Leeds-Bradford floundering at 209-7.

Seb Feszczur-Hatchett provided much-needed support to the impressive Wallace until he was bowled by D’Oliveira for 16 with the home total at 246.

With McDermott not able to bat, former skipper Mitchell polished off the hosts innings,bowling Oliver Bocking for just two to clinch an emphatic win for Worcestershire.
