WORCESTERSHIRE Academy will be taking part this week in the Shrewsbury School pre-season tournament.
The County will feature in 50 over matches with Millfield School, Shrewsbury School and Worksop College respectively from tomorrow to Thursday.
Worcestershire have strong links with Shrewsbury School with current skipper Joe Leach, all-rounder Ed Barnard and opener Ollie Westbury all former pupils.
Ed's father, Andy, is the teacher in charge of cricket at the school.
Former County paceman Paul Pridgeon - who won three Championship titles at New Road - is the cricket professional in addition to being in charge of Worcestershire's Shropshire satellite academy.
A core of players have been chosen by academy coach Elliot Wilson for all three games, many of whom participated in Sunday’s Royals versus Rapids match at Kidderminster.
One of them, Will Wade, scored an unbeaten hundred for the Rapids while Jack Haynes, part of the squad for tomorrow’s match, also hit an undefeated century.
