JOE Leach could little wrong in his first game as Worcestershire’s captain and at lunch his team were well placed with Glamorgan in trouble at 105-8.

Under cloudy conditions Leach opted to field first and he was quickly rewarded when overseas player John Hastings, in his first game for the visitors, had Jacques Rudolph caught low down at second slip.

Shortly afterwards Leach dismissed Nick Selman who played an indeterminate prod outside the off-stump to give wicketkeeper Ben Cox a straightforward catch.

With his next ball Leach squared up Colin Ingram, who edged to fourth slip, and when Chris Cooke was run out following a direct hit from Tom Fell at square leg Glamorgan had slumped to 46-5.

David Lloyd, who got off the mark with a six over fine leg, and Kieran Carlson put on 33 for the sixth wicket but Ed Barnard in his second over broke the partnership as Brett D’Oliveira held on to a low catch at cover to dismiss Carlson for 13.

Worcestershire were now into the Glamorgan tail and the procession continued as Podmore and De Lange were quickly dismissed.
