WORCESTERSHIRE have selected a 12-man squad for the Specsavers County Championship encounter with local rivals Gloucestershire at Cheltenham tomorrow (11am).

Director of cricket Steve Rhodes has named the 11 players who started the rain-hit draw against Durham at The Emirates minus Moeen Ali plus Tom Fell and Jack Shantry.

Fell replaced Joe Clarke for the final two days of the game after he joined up with the England Lions although the former Oakham School pupil did not taste any action as play was washed out.

He scored a century this week for the seconds in a seven-wicket win over Leicestershire at RGS Worcester after signing a new two-year contract.

Josh Tongue will be looking to build on the form which has brought him 30 Championship wickets after signing a new four-year deal.

Skipper Joe Leach says Worcestershire's fate is in their own hands as the battle for promotion reaches the "business end" of the campaign.

When they resume the Championship in August after the T20 Blast there will be just five four-day games remaining of the season.

The County currently lie in second spot in Division Two and with a game in hand on third-placed Kent who trail them by two points.

Leach said: "We've got six Championship games left so we are at the business end now and if we can put together a couple of results on the lead in we are going to be in a very strong position to get out of the division.

"It seems to be very front-loaded the schedule (for Championship cricket). We need to make sure we put together six good games of cricket and if we do that we will get promoted.

"We are well aware our fate is in our own hands which is exactly the position you want to be in come this stage of the season.

"In terms of Cheltenham we will turn up fully focused to do the job.

"But we've also got a chunk of 14 T20s and it is up to us to adapt to both formats now and give both a really good go."

Gloucestershire triumphed over Glamorgan inside two days during the opening Championship match of the Cheltenham Festival.

Leach said: "My experience of Cheltenham is it is a pretty good wicket. The reports we've had is the pitch wasn't necessarily as bad as those scores suggest.

"We expect it to be a good pitch there. It is a really good occasion. They put it (the festival) on very well and it's a big game in our season."
