A WORCESTERSHIRE trio played significant roles in helping the Midlands defeat the South West in the ESCA Under 15s Bunbury Festival at Stowe School.

Pete Clark took 3-17 from 10 overs as their opponents were dismissed for 121 in 38 overs after being put into bat.

Club-mate Lewis Evans bowled three overs for just two runs.

Then the County's Alex Hinkley and Dan Holland featured in the decisive partnership of 99 in 28 overs for the second wicket.

Opener Holland was second out for 35 from 83 balls with five boundaries.

Hinkley made 58 off 95 deliveries with eight boundaries before he was dismissed with just three needed for victory.

The Midlands triumphed by seven wickets with 15.2 overs left.

Holland and Hinkley are part of the County’s under 15 age group programme and EDP programme.

Clark and Evans are in Worcestershire's satellite Shropshire academy run by former County paceman Paul Pridgeon.

Victory enabled the Midlands to bounce back from an eight-wicket defeat in their opening game of the festival against London and The East.

The Midlands opted to bat and scored 237-5 in their 50 overs with Hinkley scoring 13 off 27 balls and Clark five.

London and The East reached 239-2 in reply with Clark bowling six overs for 33 runs and Evans three for 33.
