Mary was (back in the nineteen forties) secretary to my father (Mr J.H.Dukes) in Brierley Hill. I often saw her coming out of Osmaston Road or down Norton, with her mother or in Girl Guide uniform. I was fascinated by her - she was very good looking If I had niot left Stourbridge after my study I think I would have asked her to marry me. Dear Mary, goodbye.....
