A large crowd enjoyed the winter sunshine as 1,900 lots went under the hammer at Halls’ successful monthly collective machinery auction at The Gallops, Stanklyn Lane, Stone, near Kidderminster on Friday.

The top price of the day went to a 1996 JCB Loadall Farm Special 526, which sold after the auction for £9,000. Other sales in the tractor section included a Ford 3000 2wd Tractor at £3,900, a Chieftan Micro Digger at £1,750 and the Leyland 384 tractor with topper at £1,600 Good sales continued into the vehicles section with the top price of £7,300 going to a three-door Mitsubishi Shogun. A Leyland DAF 45/150 lorry sold for £2,600 and a Mitsubishi L260 Pickup made £1,500.

In the trailer section, an Ifor Williams twin axle 10-foot tipping trailer made £1,380 and an Indespension twin axle tipping trailer with cage sides made £1,000. An unusual lot was a Mirror sailing dinghy with sails and trailer, which made £220.

The farm implements section peaked at £3,600 for a Monsoon sheep shower. A Parmiter Muckspreader made £2,000, a Stanhay Webb Rallye 590 drill made £800 and a Grays Round Bale Squeeze made £600.

A larger than usual entry in the small tools and timber and building materials section resulted in the sale starting at 10.15am and finishing at 4pm, with a positive atmosphere maintained all day.

The next Stone sale will be on Friday, March 30, with a catalogue deadline of Monday, March 19.
